This was my first time attending Kuala Lumpur Fashion Week. In fact, I've never really been to any fashion event before apart from launching of some new lines, but never a fashion week. So, I had the amazing opportunity to attend KLFW with one of my PR friends.
We were Amelia Hassan's guests. Amelia Hassan is of course, a fashion designer. Her theme for all of her guests was ocean blue because she wanted to incorporate the concept of "The Shape of Water" into her collections. Therefore, all of her pieces were different shades of blue which was just amazing.
I was only at KLFW 2018 for Day 2 but here's my little OOTD for the event.
Everyone owns a t-shirt. In the fashion world, t-shirts are probably the easiest thing to style.
I was doing some spring cleaning over the weekend and realized that I own way too many t-shirts. Well, more than an average person probably should.
So, I decided to categorize my t-shirts into 3 categories: plain, patterned, and wordings. And I've also decided that I'm not going to purchase anymore t-shirts until absolutely necessary.
(The lovely Chrissy and I have decided to collaborate on this post. So, if you are having a difficult time styling your white t's, check her post out!)
There are so many ways to style a t-shirt. Sometimes, it's because there are too many choices, we just end up not wanting to style them at all and go for a dress instead. But if you have any of these 3 t-shirt categories in your wardrobe, here's how I would style them:
The Plain White-T
When it comes to plain Ts or plain white Ts, since it is the simplest of them all, I want it to stand out. And by doing that, I would normally pair it with a more unique colour. Not that black or denim won't work, I just want to add a unique colour so that white is still the focus.
The Patterned T
I like styling patterned Ts because it doesn't even matter if you go overboard.
T's with wordings
I own way too many t-shirts with wordings but I just love myself some good, inspiring wordings. And whenever I see people wearing t's with a nice quote or a funny joke, I will always smile at them.
If you have a certain way of styling your t-shirts, leave them in the comments. We're always looking for new inspirations :)
I've been working on this project for some time now.
*Try-day Friday is basically a day for you to wear something totally out of your comfort zone - this idea was introduced by Dia&Co which is a plus size clothing company dedicated to women size 14 and above. Try-day Friday is where they encourage women to step out of their comfort zones and face their fashion fears. Dia&Co makes shopping fun and easy for women of all shapes and sizes*
I think I speak on behalf of most people when I say this.
We all have flaws and imperfections. Some of us embrace them;
some of us will try to get rid of them.
With that said, I’ve always had an issue with the lower part
of my body – i.e, hips and thighs. You have no idea how difficult it is for me
to find “the perfect pair of jeans”. It will either fit perfectly around my waist but
too tight/too loose on my legs, or the other way around.
I do, however, find trousers a little bit easier for my
body. It was only up till late that I found out I actually quite fancy patterned
trousers.
I’ve seen catalogues and models and bloggers and influencers
rocking them and it’s not something I would normally wear, but I decided to
give it a go.
To be honest, I flippin’ love it! Whoever said pear-shaped girls can’t rock patterned
trousers? J
Yellow is such an under-appreciated colour, if you ask me.
To be honest, I've never really had a lot of yellows in my wardrobe. I guess it's not a colour that I'd go "OH MY GOD. I NEED TO HAVE YELLOW IN MY WARDROBE!"
Blacks and whites and greys, dark blues and denims and floral prints. They're the ones I opt for the most. However, I did tell myself I wanted to try some new shades and news styles this year. And I am so ashamed of myself for taking this long to actually get around to it.
Anyway, I stumbled upon a couple of yellow pieces last month and decided to give it a go. Now, whenever I go shopping, yellow/mustard piece is something I hunt for.
Honestly, it's so easy to pair and style. Should definitely give it a go.
Now, I'm not one to dress up during weekdays. I don't wear office uniforms, I don't wear specific outfits for work. I basically dress how I feel, look presentable and go to work.
That's why I think being a blogger has helped me realize my fashion sense a lot more.
Because, the thing is, I like dressing up and I also like dressing how I feel. So, put the two together - that's exactly my fashion sense.
I've got a couple of meetings to attend to and friends to meet over the weekend so I've put together 3 easy looks for this coming weekend.
Weekends are just that - easy, simple. Hence why I want my outfits to stay that way.
So, if you haven't seen my June Haul video yet, I basically went a little crazy. I mean, I haven't been shopping in what felt like ages! But in the video, I did explain that things were on sale everywhere I turn to. And come on, you all know that I shamelessly admit that I am a shopaholic. So, sales and I go great together but sales and my bank account - not so much.
Anyway, I am completely obsessed with this particular striped shirt that I purchased from HnM. It's so simple but it can be styled in so many ways. So, I've put together 3 ways on how I would style this striped shirt.
This is one of my favourite things in my wardrobe right now. I never thought that pine green would actually look good on me. Hence why I was extra excited to put this on.
Back in January, I promised my best friend AND myself that I will not go shopping until the next time she visits me again.
Why did I make such a ridiculous promise, you ask?
Well, frankly speaking, I was getting a bit carried away with buying clothes and items that I don't exactly need. And obviously, just moving to a new city and all that jazz, I made that my excuse to go shopping but soon after my best friend visited me, she made me see that that was not a good excuse at all. Hence why I stopped shopping for a few months. So, if you guys were wondering where my outfit posts or fashion posts were, well, now you know :P
And you know what?

I kept that promise!
Honestly, I deserve a freakin' trophy for not shopping online or in stores since 2 of my favourite stores are located right outside my apartment!
But OK, I'll just give myself a pat on the back for now.
Anyway, my best friend came over a couple of weeks ago and granted me permission to go shopping and so, we went a little cray cray! I even made a haul video, so if you're interested in that, the video will be at the end of this post :)
So, over the weekend, I put together a couple of bits and pieces that I recently purchased. And I am soooo loving my wardrobe right now. So anyway, I've created 4 simple looks/outfits for the weekend, whether you're going out for movies or hanging out with some friends in a cafe. They're just very casual and that's why I love them so much. You know me and my casual attires :P
1. Denim on Denim
2. The Basics
3. Best Jumper Ever
4. Simple
Which one's your fav??? :)
Also, if you want some advice on how to control yourself from shopping, like how I did, please let me know. Because I honestly think I can help some of you with that :D *lol*
Sunglasses have always been one of my wardrobe essentials. I mean, I collect sunglasses - whether they're $10 or $100. I have quite a large face so, finding the perfect sunnies can be tough at times.
When it comes to summer time, I feel like people whoop out their sunnies more instead of the colder months. For me, even though it's winter, I still NEED sunnies but not when it's completely grey outside. However, I do feel like summer is the most appropriate time to show off your sunnies, especially if you're going on vacation or going to the beach.
I just feel like sunnies add the extra omph to an outfit whether that's a summer dress or a thick jacket. But of course, in my opinion, they work best when they're paired with swimsuit or bikini by the pool or on the beach.
I'm already dreaming of my upcoming vacation in Thailand!!! So be sure to stay tuned for my vacation post which will probably be up next week as my trip is this Sunday!! Eeek!!! So excited!
*This post is created in collaboration with Warby Parker*
In all honesty, I have never heard of Warby Parker. However, when they approached me and had me check out their website and products, I was immediately intrigued. I mean, just look at all the designs!!
Especially their newly launched "Haskell Flash". I feel like these are the types of sunnies that would make everyone stop what they're doing and look at you. If you don't believe me, take a look for yourself :)
Spring has always been one of my favourite seasons because it's that time when it's not too chilly and you can feel that tiny hint of heat on your skin. Another reason why I love spring is because we all start seeing brighter colours in our wardrobes, and I'm a complete sucker for floral prints and pastel shades.
As crazy as this sounds, I do prefer wearing boots and shoes over sandals and slippers. Hence, another reason why I love spring (because it is still quite cold to wear sandals out).
*This post is created in collaboration with Bonobos, which is a men's site. So, when they asked me to collaborate and create a hers spring look along with the men's spring collection in their site, I was completely up for it*
As much as I love giving life advice and sharing my stories here, I also love lookbooks and fashion. So, I've created 3 spring outfits that I think would go nicely together.
I feel like when it comes to fashion, not everyone is going to love your style. AND THAT'S TOTALLY OKAY. Because as long as you feel comfortable with what you're wearing and feel good about yourself, then you're totally fine.
LOOK 1:
Anything with floral designs or printed anything is a YES for me during spring!
LOOK 2:
Because Spring is not totally warm yet, I feel like jumpers are still an essential for Spring wardrobe. Mustard yellow and sea blue are colours that I quite adore during this time of year. It gives a calming effect!
LOOK 3:
Scarves and bombers? YES YES YES! Two items I'll never get enough of!
