Food Review: OMBAK KITCHEN - Bangsar

Ombak Kitchen is The Best Seafood Restaurant in Bangsar and The Best Halal Seafood in Bangsar as well. They genuinely serve up affordable seafood, fresh from the shores. This fun-filled family restaurant with the famous seafood boil concept originated from the state of Louisiana, USA. The ambiance and environment is just so welcoming.

All the seafood served here is fresh and juicy. Everything you love from the sea will be poured onto a covered table. These Premium dishes include Alaskan King Crab, Canadian Red Lobster, XL Live Premium USA Oyster and XL Live Mud Crab!

These seafood are served with a variety of sauces such as the glorious Ombak Crazy Cajun sauce (kinda spicy but totally delicious!), buttermilk curry (my personal favourite!), cheesy zesty lemon, creamy tomyam, peranakan seri nyonya, and apple cilantro sauce.

Here's a catch about Ombak Kitchen too! Conventional utensils are optional as diners are encouraged to indulge everything on the table using their clean hands for a holistic and extraordinary dining experience. It's all about getting your hands dirty which is why their tagline is #pakaitanganjer (use your hands only).

Staycation Weekend (Ibis KLCC)

With the holiday seasons right around the corner, we can often find 5 types of people.

1) People who have already booked their family trips/trips months in advance.

2) People who want to travel for the holidays but have no idea where to go or still planning where to go.

3) People who want to stay put at home and not go anywhere at all.

4) People who want to relax out of their homes but do not want to travel far.

5) People who have no idea what to do during the holiday seasons.

I think I will admit it right now - I'm NEVER in the 1st category. I constantly find myself in between 2-4. I love travelling and all, but sometimes, I just want to relax in a place that feels like my home yet not so far away from town or my own home.

There are plenty of options nowadays with things like Airbnbs, serviced apartments, villas, etc...

Last weekend, I had the opportunity to have a lovely staycation at Ibis KLCC before my birthday. I knew I was going to be busy, so I just wanted a little relaxation time for myself before a hectic week ahead. So, here's a fun fact for you:

Ibis KLCC is the second biggest Ibis in the world and the biggest in Asia Pacific. It's within a 5-minute walking distance from major tourist attractions like KLCC twin towers, KL aquarium, Suria shopping mall, etc... It's basically in the heart of Kuala Lumpur.

I was very impressed with their facilities and most of all, the rooms. It's cozy just like home.

Pool with a view

One of the best massages I've ever had, hands down!

Business area

Not to mention the local delights they offer.

So, if you are in between categories 2-5, going on a staycation is perfect.

Here's a vlog from the staycation :)

The Rub Bar, KL

Whenever I go on holiday to places like Thailand or Vietnam or Indonesia, I would always dedicate a day or two for a little massage appointment. One, because it is much cheaper as compared to Malaysia. Two, easy access. Three, because I just walk way too much when I'm on holiday.

However, when I'm not on vacation, I will still try to find time to squeeze in a few massage appointments because I'm only human. I sit in front of 4 monitor screens everyday and work on my laptop. And because I've been swimming a lot lately, my body is constantly yearning for a good body massage.

I do have two regular ones that I go to in KL but I was introduced (invited) to go to this new one called "The Rub Bar", which opened two months ago, so I went over the weekend to try it out. Let me tell you, you will NOT be disappointed. Everything looked so posh and neat, the decor is modern, and the service definitely deserves a 5-star.

Once I entered the place, I was served with ginger tea (which is one of my favourite teas) and they actually sell homemade soaps which smelled amazing. I definitely felt like I was walking into a grand spa. It was definitely a good hour spent on a Saturday morning and I am 100% going to come back here.

Highly recommended! If you haven't been, you should definitely try it out. They are having some promotions now so head over as soon as you can or as soon as you need to de-stress :)
You won't regret it

Here's a short video to show you what it looks like:

GLAMPING : BEST WEEKEND #2

Back in September, I started this little mini series called "Best weekends series". So, here I am with my 2nd one.

If you haven't read some of my previous posts, I mentioned that I went on a weekend retreat getaway a couple of weeks ago and it was just absolutely perfect.

Today, one of my colleagues actually asked me where the pictures were taken. And I told her Sekeping Serendah (Malaysia) - it is just a couple of hours drive out of the city. She was amazed. I told her to definitely try it out sometime.

But hey, glamping (glamorous camping). It was my first time too and I think I'm getting kind of obsessed. If I'm being completely honest, I loved it so much so that I even planned another one a week from now. Oops.

Here are some of the things I did over that weekend:

1) Reconnect with nature

2) Glamped

3) Outdoor activities: hiked, cooked, swam.....etc.

I vlogged the whole thing. The video is down below if you want to watch what happened on that weekend :) Hopefully this will help some of you who are planning a weekend getaway or just planning what to do on your weekends :)

4 SIMPLE OUTFITS FOR THE WEEKEND

Back in January, I promised my best friend AND myself that I will not go shopping until the next time she visits me again.

Why did I make such a ridiculous promise, you ask?

Well, frankly speaking, I was getting a bit carried away with buying clothes and items that I don't exactly need. And obviously, just moving to a new city and all that jazz, I made that my excuse to go shopping but soon after my best friend visited me, she made me see that that was not a good excuse at all. Hence why I stopped shopping for a few months. So, if you guys were wondering where my outfit posts or fashion posts were, well, now you know :P

And you know what?

I kept that promise!

Honestly, I deserve a freakin' trophy for not shopping online or in stores since 2 of my favourite stores are located right outside my apartment!

But OK, I'll just give myself a pat on the back for now.

Anyway, my best friend came over a couple of weeks ago and granted me permission to go shopping and so, we went a little cray cray! I even made a haul video, so if you're interested in that, the video will be at the end of this post :)

So, over the weekend, I put together a couple of bits and pieces that I recently purchased. And I am soooo loving my wardrobe right now. So anyway, I've created 4 simple looks/outfits for the weekend, whether you're going out for movies or hanging out with some friends in a cafe. They're just very casual and that's why I love them so much. You know me and my casual attires :P

1. Denim on Denim

2. The Basics

3. Best Jumper Ever

4. Simple

Which one's your fav??? :)

Also, if you want some advice on how to control yourself from shopping, like how I did, please let me know. Because I honestly think I can help some of you with that :D *lol*

SUNDAY FUNDAY: EXPLORING NEW CAFES (OW:L ESPRESSO SS15 REVIEW)

I want to make it my mission to visit a new cafe every Sunday.

I love exploring cozy little cafes. Honestly, it's one of the best things ever. On Sunday, I decided to go somewhere near where I live so, I came across OW:L Espresso cafe.

I guess the concept of this cafe is a lot similar to most "fusion" cafes these days. Cakes, teas, waffles... etc. Even though I find it similar to most cafes, I still find joy in spending time in a new cafe. It's just my thing :P

Anyway, my first impression of it was "wow! That's a lot of people for a Sunday!" However, I loved all the decor and how the layout of the cafe was. Basically, there's a smoking area out in the balcony and inside, there are different sets of furniture to enjoy. Latest musics and nice ambiance make it even better.

The one thing I would say that took my breath away is this...........

Look at how massive that snowman cotton candy is!!

And buried within it is a bowl of chocolate and banana snowflake (bingsu) which is just gorgeous.

Of course, we enjoyed this with some peach tea, banana milkshake and latte.

Overall, I think this place is really worth the try. Absolutely loved it!
