Food Review: OMBAK KITCHEN - Bangsar

Ombak Kitchen is The Best Seafood Restaurant in Bangsar and The Best Halal Seafood in Bangsar as well. They genuinely serve up affordable seafood, fresh from the shores. This fun-filled family restaurant with the famous seafood boil concept originated from the state of Louisiana, USA. The ambiance and environment is just so welcoming.

All the seafood served here is fresh and juicy. Everything you love from the sea will be poured onto a covered table. These Premium dishes include Alaskan King Crab, Canadian Red Lobster, XL Live Premium USA Oyster and XL Live Mud Crab!

These seafood are served with a variety of sauces such as the glorious Ombak Crazy Cajun sauce (kinda spicy but totally delicious!), buttermilk curry (my personal favourite!), cheesy zesty lemon, creamy tomyam, peranakan seri nyonya, and apple cilantro sauce.

Here's a catch about Ombak Kitchen too! Conventional utensils are optional as diners are encouraged to indulge everything on the table using their clean hands for a holistic and extraordinary dining experience. It's all about getting your hands dirty which is why their tagline is #pakaitanganjer (use your hands only).

6 AMAZING PLACES TO EAT IN HATYAI

As I mentioned in my previous post, I was off to Thailand for a couple of days.

This time - HatYai

I've actually never been to this small city before but I've heard that it's a food paradise. So naturally, why not right? Book a flight and try it.

My friend and I went together.

So, here's the deal. We are both fairly picky when it comes to food. What I mean by this is, we both enjoy food A LOT, we're both foodies and obviously, we will try food that entice us. However, we are not really adventurous - as in, we will not have worms, insects, or delicacies that we do not fancy.

Furthermore, she only eats in restaurants that are HALAL. And I, on the other hand, am a pescatarian - which means I am a vegetarian who only eats seafood. So, it is a little trickier for us but I don't feel like I'm missing out.

Obviously, for meat lovers out there, you will definitely NOT be disappointed in HatYai. But for vegans, it will be VERY difficult for you to enjoy.

For us, we enjoyed it to the max. So, if you are travelling with a friend/group of friends who are of our kinds, here are 6 good places to eat in HatYai - HALAL or not - definitely give it a go because it's a YES from both of us.

1) Decha Fried Chicken Restaurant

Lovely setting, good ambiance, tasty food, affordable price
Total for 2: THB 680

2) Dim Sum Chabura

No matter what it is you're in HatYai for, SEAFOOD IS A MUST! x

SUNDAY FUNDAY: EXPLORING NEW CAFES (OW:L ESPRESSO SS15 REVIEW)

I want to make it my mission to visit a new cafe every Sunday.

I love exploring cozy little cafes. Honestly, it's one of the best things ever. On Sunday, I decided to go somewhere near where I live so, I came across OW:L Espresso cafe.

I guess the concept of this cafe is a lot similar to most "fusion" cafes these days. Cakes, teas, waffles... etc. Even though I find it similar to most cafes, I still find joy in spending time in a new cafe. It's just my thing :P

Anyway, my first impression of it was "wow! That's a lot of people for a Sunday!" However, I loved all the decor and how the layout of the cafe was. Basically, there's a smoking area out in the balcony and inside, there are different sets of furniture to enjoy. Latest musics and nice ambiance make it even better.

The one thing I would say that took my breath away is this...........

Look at how massive that snowman cotton candy is!!

And buried within it is a bowl of chocolate and banana snowflake (bingsu) which is just gorgeous.

Of course, we enjoyed this with some peach tea, banana milkshake and latte.

Overall, I think this place is really worth the try. Absolutely loved it!
