The Sad Truth About Adulting: Friends

Adulting. Is that even a word?

I'm pretty sure someone somewhere created that word.

But the thing is, we can all relate to that word and the meaning behind it, so yes, I think that is a word which has yet to be included in the Oxford Dictionary.

2 weeks ago, one of my very good friends said something to me which hit me really hard. Now, this friend. Well, we practically grew up together. I would say I've known her since I was about 6 or 7. We have always been close until I turned 20. She furthered her studies and I went to the UK after that. We had an argument which I can't even remember now and decided not to speak to each other anymore. That is until last year, when I came back from UK and moved to Kuala Lumpur. So, that's about 6 years of not talking to each other.

Last July, I met her at an event and I was actually quite nervous. I didn't know whether she would feel the awkwardness between us or whether there's any bad blood or tension between the both of us. To my surprise, she came over and gave me a hug and of course, I hugged back because I really did miss her. Throughout those 6 years of not speaking, I honestly thought I'd lost her as a friend forever.

We meet regularly on Sundays for church. That is unless I have somewhere to be or if I have work or if I'm on vacation. We went out a few times last December and just 2 or 3 times this year. It is now June. And 2 weeks ago, she said to me "Wow. It's been almost a year since we started talking to each other again but we've only gone out for about 5 times. What's up with that? Is this it? Our friendship?"

That actually hit me really hard because I've known her for such a long time and we've been through so much together yet she's right. We haven't hung out often since last July.

Here's my sad truth:

I absolutely love her to bits and I miss our times together. I wish everything could go back to when I was 15 but sadly, that can't be done.

I want to hang out with her more but work gets in the way. And it absolutely sucks because I have to choose between friendship and work. I know a lot of people go through this. And when it comes to weekends, all you want to do is spend some time alone - catching up on Netflix, reading, going on trips. And when it's week nights, I do want to hang out with her but I have other clients to attend to. So, where does that leave me?

I know I need to organize my time better and sort out my priorities and what matters most to me. But I do know that I need to make more time for friends.

Adulting is no easy task. You hardly see your friends because of work or other activities. Things you used to do when you were younger are abandoned. Life gets in the way. But if your friends understand, then you'll have no problem at all. Lucky for me, she understands. And I'm thankful for that.

I still feel bad but I've decided to clear my schedule to go out with her more often. Until then, ciao.

Do you guys have this problem? What do you do about it? Let me know

SUNDAY FUNDAY: EXPLORING NEW CAFES (OW:L ESPRESSO SS15 REVIEW)

I want to make it my mission to visit a new cafe every Sunday.

I love exploring cozy little cafes. Honestly, it's one of the best things ever. On Sunday, I decided to go somewhere near where I live so, I came across OW:L Espresso cafe.

I guess the concept of this cafe is a lot similar to most "fusion" cafes these days. Cakes, teas, waffles... etc. Even though I find it similar to most cafes, I still find joy in spending time in a new cafe. It's just my thing :P

Anyway, my first impression of it was "wow! That's a lot of people for a Sunday!" However, I loved all the decor and how the layout of the cafe was. Basically, there's a smoking area out in the balcony and inside, there are different sets of furniture to enjoy. Latest musics and nice ambiance make it even better.

The one thing I would say that took my breath away is this...........

Look at how massive that snowman cotton candy is!!

And buried within it is a bowl of chocolate and banana snowflake (bingsu) which is just gorgeous.

Of course, we enjoyed this with some peach tea, banana milkshake and latte.

Overall, I think this place is really worth the try. Absolutely loved it!

HITTING QUARTER LIFE CRISIS

"It is perfectly okay and normal to not have your shit together at 25." - Anonymous

I feel like there are 2 types of people in this world: People who know what they're going to be doing for the rest of their lives once they hit 20, and people who haven't got a single clue about what they want in life when they hit 20.

Good afternoon all you lovely readers

Today's post is going to be about my current life situation. As for the above statement, I feel like I'm the latter one. I've always been the type of person who wants to try as many things as I can as possible. Even at my teenage years, I've always had crazy ideas and wild imaginations about everything around me. Up till today, right this very second, I still have crazy imaginations and interesting ideas. To have a creative mind is a good thing, but I guess the downside to that is that all these imaginations and thoughts will make you question everything in life.

I will be hitting 25 next month and for some reason, it doesn't scare me at all. The only thing that scares me is that I haven't got enough time to do half of the things I've wanted to do before I hit 30. That is probably one of the scariest things ever. But I'm here today to share a few of my thoughts with you and to let you know that you are not alone :)

1. Two Minds

I'm at a phase in life where I just want to go out and explore the world, try new things, have that occasional drink at a pub or a friend's party, and be a complete nutter around close friends. However, I absolutely do not mind staying at home everyday, sitting on the couch with a good book or doing absolutely nothing at all but drink tea and chill.

2. Friends Come and Go

There's a reason why this saying was invented. And after learning it the hard way for multiple times, I've finally come to terms with it. Some people stay, some people go. You will lose old friends and gain new ones. And that's just life. Deal with it. I'm at a certain stage in life where I keep my circle of friends really small. I'm glad to have these people in my life who support and encourage me in everything I do. A few good friends is better than thousands of fake friends. Keep that in mind.

3. People Change..... You Change

Over the years, I've noticed something about myself. Physically, I've changed. But mentally too. All the dreams that I had when I was younger - dreams of becoming a princess (go on, laugh all you want) and all those other crazy, funny dreams and imaginations - they've all changed. But now is also the time to make your dreams happen. And that is what I'm going to start doing. Change. Be a better version of myself. Go after my dreams. Because even though dreams and interests change, that does not mean you can't pursue them.

Let me know if you can relate to this? X

TOP 5 DELICIOUS FOOD

Good evening all you foodies out there :)

As most of you would know, I have been travelling a lot lately which can only mean ONE obvious thing - FOOOOOOOD.

I was inspired to write this post when I was looking through my whole travel photo album earlier today. As I've mentioned in my previous post, I have been to loads of different restaurants in the past couple of weeks and my "restaurant of the month" post was almost impossible for me to write. So, I decided to write another post on all the amazing food I've tried so far. I feel like I really need to do these dishes justice by writing about them. Haha!

Like all good things - GOOD FOOD need to be shared!

AMPERSAND by CULINARY REBELS

MY PERSONAL OPINION: BEST MEAT COMBO

I came here back in July with my brother and a few of his mates. Honestly, the effort they put in your food can definitely be seen on your plate. The menu is obviously all about the meat. I can't remember all the names of the dishes but I remember all of us ordering all the specials which include pork, beef, chicken and lamb. The ambiance of the restaurant suits the food that they serve perfectly. The setting and decor are very modernized. And here's a little fun fact (well, for me, at least) : Ampersand means the logo "&".

KGB

MY PERSONAL OPINION: BEST BURGER AND FRIES

I came here recently with my brother. Basically, the restaurant's motto is "Because Life is too Short for a Bad Burger". And hell to the yes, I completely agree with that. The fries that they serve though, was the highlight for me, to be completely honest with you. I have never forced myself to ever finish a portion of fries that I could not finish. With these fries though, even though I knew I was full, I just wanted more! Yes, it is THAT good.

NAJ & BELLE

MY PERSONAL OPINION: BEST DESSERTS

I think all of you would know by now that desserts are my absolute fave! I mean, in a 3-course-meal, I would rather give up the mains and go for the desserts instead. And I have my desserts before and after my meal. Yes, that is how much I love 'em. And for me to name this place the best place for desserts IS actually saying something. All I can say to you is : TRY THE WATERMELON CAKE BECAUSE IT IS DIVINE!

IPPUDO

MY PERSONAL OPINION: BEST RAMEN

When it comes to Japanese cuisine, I normally just go for sushi. I have actually had a couple of ramens from different Japanese restaurants before and I was never too keen on them. So, when my friend suggested this place, I was feeling a little meh. But I decided to give it a go anyway because I wanted to try it. Holy heck! That ramen was beautiful.

IKEA MEATBALLS

MY PERSONAL OPINION: BEST MEATBALLS (duh!)

I felt really left out when probably 99% of the people that I know have actually tried IKEA meatballs. So, I made it a mission to give it a go on my previous trip. I remembered feeling absolutely stuffed from breakfast and my brother decided to go for a walk in IKEA. And I said to him "right, we are going for meatballs and I don't care if you have them or not, but I'm having Swedish meatballs today!" Some people may think it's overrated but in my opinion, they are probably the best meatballs I've ever tasted in my entire life. The cranberry sauce just makes it perfect. Absolutely gorgeous.

So, that concludes my top 5 food I've tried so far!

Do give these places a go if you are ever in Kuala Lumpur. Trust me, you will not regret it.

FAVOURITE POOLSIDE PICTURES

Good evening everyone

I hope you're all having a lovely Sunday so far.

So, I came back from my little getaway just 2 days ago, hence, the absence. But I'm back now and I have some exciting things and stories to share with all of you. But for today's post, I'm going to share a few of my favourite poolside pictures from holiday :)

As most of you would know by now, I absolutely adore beaches. If there is a beach at the place that I'm travelling to, that would be the first on my "to-go" list! However, if there are no beaches whatsoever, pools are the next best thing :)

I just get so relaxed whenever I'm chilling by the pool or having a little dip. I mean, my ideal holiday would be chilling by the pool with a cocktail every now and again whist I'm reading a good book and getting a little tan in my bikini.

And then, there's the part where I actually get in the pool and swim. I feel like I've rediscovered my love for swimming lately.

For the past couple of days whilst I was on holiday, I've just been chilling by the pool, which is why I've decided to share this post :) I loved every second of it especially because the view from the pool was exceptional!

This is when you know you've found a friend for life - when she is as fabulous as you :D I had such an amazing time! Not only because it was so chilled, but also because I got to meet up with my brother and another one of my closest friends.

Happy Sunday everyone! X
