4 Days in Krabi for RM1,000

Is it possible to enjoy Krabi under a tight budget? 

The answer is YES! 

The truth is, my friend and I went to Krabi with a total of THB 8,051 each, which is roughly RM1,000 per person. In my opinion, that is quite reasonable. So, let me break it down for you. 

Flight ticket: RM188

- book your flights 3-4 weeks beforehand 

- if possible, weekday trips will be more worth it as flights tend to be cheaper on Mondays and Tuesdays

- I booked my tickets via AirAsia 

Accommodation: RM500 (RM250 each) 

- again, book your accommodation 3-4 weeks in advance 

- there are plenty of AirBnBs, hotels and resorts in Krabi, so it's just a matter of how luxurious/budgeted you want your stay to be

- We booked a very nice resort called Baan Ban Dalay via Booking.com and the place is just amazing. Location was great. 

Transportation: RM95 (RM47.50 each for 3 days)

- rent a scooter for THB250/day

- Tuk Tuks will try to rip you off real bad but of course it's for their businesses

- renting a bike/scooter is so much easier and more convenient but if you are confident with a car, it will still be cheaper than taking the Tuk Tuks

Island: RM50 (RM25 each for 2 islands)

- this is your choice. We didn't want to do island hopping so we picked 2 islands that we really liked and paid THB200 for a long-tail boat to each island

- island hopping packages can go up to at least THB1,200 and it will be from 8am-4pm 

- so this option is completely up to you

Up till this point, the total is RM510.50

The rest of the money was spent on food, souvenirs and massage. 

So, RM1,000 for 4 days in Krabi is totally do-able. You get the luxury side as well as the budget side.

About 2 weeks ago, I took a short "vacation" with one of my close friends to Krabi, Thailand.

Oh Krabi...

....Where do I even begin.



It's my second time in Krabi, actually. And it amazes me how I manage to fall even more in love with the place. I love Thailand in general but there are so many hidden islands and gems I have yet to explore (and will soon explore).

I do have to say this and be honest about it. Krabi is more commercialized now than it was 2 years ago when I last visited. And that's exactly it. I usually do not like places like that, but Krabi has somehow put a spell on me.

But anyway, here's to more adventures and explorations.

5 BEACHWEAR IDEAS

I think all of you will know by now that I've been to a few beaches for the past couple of few weeks and I absolutely LOVED it! If I'm not mistaken, my obsession for beaches started when I was 18 or 19 years old. I don't know but it's just the whole idea of it. I know I say this a lot but when I'm at the beach, I just feel so peaceful and calm. To me, it's not all about the tanning or the sunbathing. I would normally sit by the beach and enjoy the breeze, close my eyes and enjoy the sound of waves, walk on the sandy beach while small waves splash over my calves and feet. It's just one of the best feelings in the world.

I guess with huge obsession for beaches comes a "tiny" obsession for beachwear :) 

Now, for me, it's not ALL about the bikinis. Like I said, I don't tan or sunbathe on beaches AT ALL. So obviously, the pictures in this post won't be about me in bikinis *ooops*. I mean, no one would want to see me in a bikini anyway (haha!). But who cares.....

As long as I feel great about myself.

And I think I mentioned in my "Summer Bucket List" post that I wanted to put on a bikini and feel great about it. That's one thing to cross off my list (tick). 

So today, I'm going to share a couple of beachwear ideas with you. You don't have to like what I've worn or picked but it's just an idea I had in my head to share these with you. Initially, I wanted to name this post "5 MUST-HAVEs FOR THE BEACH" but decided that you don't really NEED to have these things to go to the beach :) So, here goes......

1) STRAW-HATS 

Oh my goodness. I have a new found love for straw-hats. I mean, it's just the best thing for a walk on the beach. I think I've worn my straw-hat most times I was on the beach. It's just lovely. It covers your eyes and face from the sun, protects your hair, makes you look like you've put a little more effort (or it could just make you look like a tourist, haha). I don't know - it just looks so stylish. I got my straw-hat while I was in Bali and wore it to beaches ever since.

2) BIKINI

OBVIOUSLY! But I would normally throw something over it unless I'm actually going into the beach for a swim (which never happens) or if I swim in pools. Putting on a bikini just makes it feel a bit more - hmmm.. how shall I describe it without sounding like I've actually said a bad word - "beachy" (haha).

3) KIMONOS 

I really love kimonos. Honestly, it just goes with anything - except for jumpers, I guess. It goes with dresses, with vests, with t-shirts. It's just perfect. Even if I'm just chilling by the pool, chucking on a kimono made me look like I actually put effort in my little swimwear outfit instead of just walking out with a bikini or swimsuit. I think kimonos just add a little bit more to your outfit and make you look a bit classier, which is why I love them.

4) PLAY-SUITS

So, before I left the UK, I've been completely obsessed with play-suits and jumpsuits. However, when I first went to the beach in Bali IN A FRIGGIN' JUMPSUIT, my skin was literally boiling. It was not a good idea but I looked good so it's fine :) Play-suits, however, are just golden. I wore a play-suit in Bali for a sunset dinner by the beach. It was breezy, it looked good, and it made me feel pretty :)

5) SHORTS

I think this comes as no surprise to all of you out there who knows my style. Shorts are just my thing. In the UK, when it's super freezing, I just wear leggings underneath and put on some shorts. In Malaysia, shorts are pretty much all I wear. Even if I have a dress on, I will always have a pair of shorts underneath. But yes, back to the beach, I think shorts are an essential for beaches. It makes you look sexy anyway, so why not? I had shorts on most times on the beach.

Short Trip To Krabi

I mentioned before in a few of my previous posts that I'll be going to Krabi, Thailand for a short little vacation. 

Well, I just came back from that short trip today. And this is potentially the last trip of my "long" vacation. By this, I mean, my last planned trip (UK - Bali - Kuala Lumpur - Krabi). I'm sure I'll have some impromptu trips coming up but for now, the only trip I have left is a trip back to my hometown. 

I have never been to Krabi before. It was all new to me so I didn't really know what to expect from it. 

The place I went to for 2 nights of relaxation is called Ao Nang, which is in Krabi.

Let me explain it this way: 

1) Krabi is the main town and the capital of Southern Thailand's Krabi Province. It lies in an area of limestone karsts and mangrove forest. 

2) Krabi is also famous for all the small islands surrounding it. Phi Phi island and James Bond island are just a few examples. 

3) Ao Nang is an even smaller town in Krabi and acts as the central point of the coastal province of Krabi. 

So, basically..... a town within a town. Some serious inception going on here (haha). 

I took this short trip with my mum and my brother. A very much needed trip actually. However, in my opinion, another night there would have been ideal. I did thoroughly enjoy my time there. 

The plaza we stayed in was just amazing. I mean, I honestly don't mind waking to this view every morning :) 

For those of you out there who love Thai food or just love trying new food and new cuisines, the food in Krabi will not disappoint you. In fact, I think Pad Thai might actually be my new favourite dish! There are just so many delicious foods to try. And in my honest opinion, you can find the most authentic Thai food at the "Night Market". Some people might not be able to take the heat or just the idea of street food, but it's just the best place to find authenticity. If not, there are always restaurants nearby. Me, being a foodie, tried both of course. My brother and I went to a local Thai restaurant near our plaza the first night we were there. It was really really good. No regrets there, I promise you.

The next day, we bought tickets to go on a longtail boat to visit the islands nearby. Longtail boats are the only form of transportation to visit the other islands near Ao Nang. 

It was probably one of the most amazing things I've ever seen in my life. Not going to lie, I was a bit scared at first because we were obviously going to be in the open sea on a freakin' boat WITHOUT life jackets. However, it was alright once we were out in the sea. The weather was amazing, the sea was calm. 

It's just one of those things that I can't describe in words. I can only put it this way: if you think the pictures in this post look amazing, just imagine the real thing being 10 times nicer. It was absolutely breathtaking. I got to visit Chicken Island, Ko Poda, and Railay Beach.
